The following table gives the letters of the Greek alphabet and their English equivalents. Where the English pronunciation of a Greek letter is not obvious, the table gives an example. Thus, the Greek letter alpha is pronounced as the “a” in father, the Greek letter êta as the “e” in hey, and so forth.
