Overview

Welcome to Jim’s Bakery (Jim’s). We know you will enjoy the aroma of the freshly baked bread coming from our ovens. Jim’s Bakery combines the best of small town friendliness in our well-established retail store, along with a large-scale commercial bakery that combines the quality of homemade baked goods with regional distribution facilities to supply our growing list of commercial customers. After 35 years of growing an exceptional brand and financially strong business, the founder of Jim’s Bakery is selling his business and preparing to retire and move to the beach. When you realize what an outstanding opportunity we are offering you will say, “The aroma of that bread smells like money to me!”

The Jim’s Bakery brand has a long-established reputation for good food and quality service that has lasted for over three decades. The business benefits from a loyal following of retail customers who return time after time to purchase personalized cakes and other specialty baked items. For years, Jim’s has been the “must stop” place for special occasions and holiday celebrations. Going to “Jim’s” has become the family tradition for enjoyable family events such as birthdays, graduations, and other happy occasions. Jim’s loyal retail customers will continue to return as long as the quality remains.

Fifteen years ago, due to a growing demand for more products than the retail bakery alone could provide, Jim’s Bakery expanded its operations by adding a commercial bakery that supplies the same quality Jim’s breads along with other bakery items to restaurants and other outlets regionally. Jim’s customers love finding Jim’s Bakery breads and rolls in stores and restaurants throughout the region because they know Jim’s is a brand they can count on for quality and consistency. Jim’s Bakery takes great care to protect their brand and maintains their reputation for fresh-baked products. You cannot buy “day-old bread” from Jim’s. We require our commercial customers to remove any unsold product within 24 hours of delivery.

Today, Jim’s Bakery operates two facilities—their original retail bakery where they produce cakes and specialty items and their commercial bakery that supports their “Bread as a Service” (BaaS) product line. The commercial bakery and the administrative offices for the business, which are located above the commercial bakery, are in a leased facility. The founder’s office is located in the back of the retail store, which Jim owns. Jim likes to walk into the front of the store where he can greet people, as a way to remain close to his customers. This is not just nostalgia. Jim realizes that many of his commercial customers also started as retail customers.

After 35 years in business, Jim is ready to sell the business and retire to St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. He is looking for a buyer who will retain his current talented and well-trained employees and continue to grow the business while maintaining its reputation for exceptional service and quality products. All rights to the Jim’s Bakery brand and recipes, which have been used and improved upon for 35 years, are included in the sale.

In a recent article by the State Gazette, Jim’s Bakery was listed as one of the top places to work and shop in the region. The chairman of the state economic development council was quoted as saying: “Jim’s Bakery has been identified as one of the top 50 small businesses in the state and seems to be ready to grow beyond its local roots.”

Come and visit Jim’s. Sit and have a cup of coffee and smell the aroma coming from our ovens. It is truly the aroma of opportunity.
