PART
2

Turning Notes into Scales, Intervals, and Chords

Once you are familiar with the 12 notes of music, you can then construct the Major Scale, which is used to define pretty much everything else in music theory and guitar theory. And if you can make one Major Scale, then you can make any of the 12 possible Major Scales, which will help you understand the concept of keys.

Additionally, building the Major Scale will introduce you to intervals, which are the spaces from one note of the scale to another. Understanding intervals will allow you to move from one note on your guitar’s fretboard to another with confidence.

And with your knowledge of intervals, you will then know how any chord is formed. You’ll also learn which chords are most likely to appear in any given key.
