In this chapter, we will cover:
Your company has given you a brand new iPad and the IT department has loaded a BI tool in it, so what's next? Install Angry Birds I suppose. I mean, after that.
How do we tap our way through hundreds of seemingly identical dashboards and reports, what is the best way to answer to a 10 thousands elements prompt, and do I have to swipe 800 times to reach to the end of the list? We'll try to answer that.
Now after the kids have cut a reasonable amount of ropes and fed the little green monster at least until tomorrow, we can reach for the MicroStrategy icon and begin the journey.
Your BI administrator has configured the application so that you'll start from a home page or, most probably, a list of available documents in a public folder. This list is automatically refreshed when you open the app; if you don't seem to find the report you are looking for, the easiest thing to do is going back to the iPad home screen and open the tool again.
There is an i like information icon on the top-right corner of the screen. From here you can access the help page, MicroStrategy Express (which is a cloud version of the software, see Chapter 13, MicroStrategy Express), and the settings page. Feel free to explore the help and Express but please trust me when I tell you, "don't change anything in the settings page, your BI admin will be grateful".
To run a report simply tap its name, then on the View button.
Some reports contain prompts, which are questions that the user must answer before executing the query.
