The report number 38 named Prompted Filter on Products contains a prompt; this means that the user has to choose one or more products before the results are displayed. The list contains some 600 products.
Search through the list and find the report number 38. Select it, and tap View to open it:
- After a few seconds, you'll see a list of products on the left, optionally some of the products may be already selected: the number between parentheses indicates how many, (0/606) in the case of the screen capture:
- There are two tabs (All and Selected). Tap the second and uncheck all of the selected elements if any, then go back to the All tab.
- In the search box, type
Gloves. The list filters all the gloves, check all of them and then tap Done. - In the Selected tab, the number between parentheses reflects the number of gloves that we have checked.
- You can repeat step 3 and add more products, for example,
BrakesorHelmet. Always tap Done to confirm. - Now tap Apply and the report is executed. After a few seconds, you can see the results in a grid.
- If you want to modify the selection, tap the Filter button to the right of the title and repeat the search.
When we tap a prompted report, MicroStrategy loads the prompt, and only after the selection is applied the query runs on the database server with a WHERE clause to return the list of specified products.
The same report may contain several prompts such as: date selection or geographic area or others. If there is no data that satisfies a specified selection, the result pane displays a message: No data returned for this view. This might be because the applied filter excludes all data. Try to filter only on Caps to see an example.
