Introduction

During the last few years, the BI world has been experiencing a landslide movement towards mobile devices, and every major vendor of analytics software is adding to their catalog some sort of mobile solution.

The mind-blowing number of Apple and Samsung products sold so far, forces the BI players to rethink their strategies and prepare for the predictable extinction of the DesktopSaurus.

I personally have mixed feelings about this; but certainly the unstoppable shift of services—and soon personal desktops—to the cloud will leave a square and dusty empty space on our tables.

MicroStrategy was one of the first, if not the first, to offer full native client applications on mobile devices.

In this and the following chapter, we will explore the iPad version of the application, using the previously created reports, and creating new ones especially for the smaller screen of tablets. I must confess, I am not a tablet user, so we will discover the features together on the go.
