Directory structure

Let's now go to the newly created directory. We can see the following directory structure:

Directory	Description
`bin`	The scripts needed for running ElasticSearch instances and for plugin management
`config`	The directory where the configuration files are located
`lib`	The libraries used by ElasticSearch

After ElasticSearch starts, it will create the following directories (if they don't exist):

Directory	Description
`data`	Where all the data used by ElasticSearch is stored
`logs`	Files with information about events and errors that occur during the running of an instance
`plugins`	The location for storing the installed plugins
`work`	Temporary files
