I have learned a great deal about cloud architecture and deployment from my many colleagues on the various standards working groups in which I have participated. Notable among these are Larry Lamers of VMware, Shishir Pardikar of Citrix, Alan Sill of the Open Grid Forum, Jacques Durand of Fujitsu, Eric Wells of Hitachi, and Ali Ghazanfar of ZTE Corporation.

I would like to give recognition to Paul Lipton, my friend and CA Technologies representative on the DMTF board of directors. Paul is also co-chairman of the OASIS TOSCA Technical Committee. Paul is a longtime participant in many computing standards groups and has been a friend and colleague for several years.

Jacob Lamm of CA is the executive sponsor for this book. Jacob and I have worked together for many years on enterprise management solutions, including service desk and configuration management systems. I have learned a great deal from Jacob about the business side of IT.

Efraim Moskovitz served as technical reviewer for this book. Without his help, there would have been many more gaps and gaffes. Efraim and I worked together on the CA Council for Technical Excellence for several years, and Efraim contributed several articles to the CA Technology Exchange, which I edited. He is a good friend and valued advisor.

Karen Sleeth is the director of the CA Press who encouraged me many times when I was feeling down about this project. The book would not exist without her.
