About the Authors
Alex Martelli has been programming for over 30 years, mainly in Python for the recent half of that time. He wrote the first two editions of Python in a Nutshell and co-authored the first two editions of the Python Cookbook. He’s a PSF Fellow, and won the 2002 Activators’ Choice Award and the 2006 Frank Willison Memorial Award for contributions to the Python community. He’s active on Stack Overflow and a frequent speaker at technical conferences. He’s been living in Silicon Valley with his wife Anna for 12 years, and working at Google throughout this time, currently as Senior Staff Engineer leading “long tail” tech support for the Google Cloud Platform.
Anna Martelli Ravenscroft is an experienced speaker and trainer, with a background developing curricula for a wide range of topics, from church, to regional transit, to disaster preparedness; developing web applications for therapy, learning, and fitness; and writing and reviewing technical books, articles, and presentations. While not a professional programmer, Anna is a Python enthusiast, and an active member of the Open Source community: she’s a PSF Fellow, and winner of the 2013 Frank Willison Memorial Award for contributions to the Python community. Anna co-authored the second edition of the Python Cookbook. Anna lives in Silicon Valley with her husband Alex, two dogs, one cat, and eight chickens.
Steve Holden celebrates his half-century as a programmer with the publication of this book, the last 20 years using Python as his principal programming language. In 2002 Steve wrote Python Web Programming; from 2003 to 2005 he chaired the first three PyCon conferences in the USA. He has served as both a director and chairman of the Python Software Foundation, of which he is now a Fellow; he won the 2007 Frank Willison Memorial Award for contributions to the Python community; and is a well-known speaker to Python audiences. Steve currently lives in London, where he is the CTO of a small startup.
