Look at the world around you. I see faces everywhere—cracks in the sidewalk, the clouds, a pile of paper scraps, and all around my house. If you see faces too, the best thing you can do is take photos of them. You can record faces as they appear, and later you will have a whole menu of them to choose from when you need a bit of inspiration. I like to use a little sketchbook to interpret my photos too.

Play with paper: Use some scraps of card stock to make eyes, noses, mouths—even ears! Don’t get too complicated. Mix and match them, and play around with their configuration until you find some faces and expressions that delight you!
