About the Technical Reviewers

Marc Ayres is a senior product manager in the IP Communications business unit at Cisco Systems, responsible for CallManager releases that will provide expanded SIP support and additional operating systems. He has more than 19 years of experience in voice and video communications. Marc joined Cisco in 2000.

Ho Bao is a technical leader in the CallManager software development group. He has led many protocol development projects in CallManager including SIP, MGCP, and H.323. Ho has worked as a software engineer for 15 years, with the past six years at Cisco Systems.

Luc Bouchard is a technical marketing engineer working in the Voice Technology group at Cisco Systems. He holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from Université Laval, Québec, Canada. A five-year Cisco employee, Luc has been designing and deploying networks for the past 15 years. Luc and his (much) better half Barb live and work in Silicon Valley and as Canadians still struggle with the lack of snow on the roads, Chardonnay being served at Shark’s games, and barbequing in February. They hope to adapt soon.

Thomas Chan is a manager responsible for Cisco CallManager CTI (Computer Telephony Integration), JTAPI (Java Telephony Application Programming Interface), and TAPI (Telephony Application Programming Interface) software development. He has been at Cisco for five years and has worked in the telecom industry for 17 years. He holds an M.S. in computer science and a B.S. in biochemistry from the University of California, Davis.

Gerardo Chaves is a marketing product manager for CallManager. Prior to his current position, he was a software engineer in the IP Communications business unit developing voice applications. Gerardo has been with Cisco for seven years working on various IP Telephony projects. He holds a B.S. in computer science.

Joanna Chen is a technical leader in the CallManager software development group at Cisco Systems. For the past five years she has focused on call processing and has worked for Cisco since 1999. Joanna holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China) and an M.S. in electrical engineering from China Academy of Posts and Telecommunication.

Lijun Chen is a software engineer in the CallManager software development group at Cisco Systems. He is a key module owner of MGCP/PRI/BRI components. Lijun has been at Cisco for five years. He holds an M.S. in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

R. Vicky Chen is a technical leader in the CallManager software development group at Cisco Systems. Her primary responsibility is CallManager media components. Vicky has been at Cisco for more than seven years and has worked as a software engineer for more than 12 years.

CT Chou is a technical leader in the CallManager Serviceability team at Cisco Systems. He has been at Cisco for six years. CT holds an M.S. in computer science from the University of Iowa.

Darrick Deel is a software engineer in the IP Communications business unit at Cisco Systems. He is the primary designer for the XML Services interface, which is used to create the services and directory infrastructure on Cisco IP Phones. He is a coauthor of Developing Cisco IP Phone Services (ISBN: 1-58705-060-9).

Mike Dybka, CCIE No. 1413, is a technical marketing engineer in the Cisco Voice Technology group. He provides design guidance for voice solutions to enterprise customers, the Cisco sales force, and Cisco partners. During the past nine years at Cisco, Mike has held various roles assisting customers design their network solutions. His career as a network engineer spans 14 years.

Clint Entrop is a manager in the CallManager call processing development team. Clint and his team develop enhancements to the core CallManager call processing engine to meet product requirements. Clint joined Cisco in early 1999. Prior to Cisco, he worked as an engineer in the telecom industry. He holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University.

Mike Gallucci is a technical lead in the CallManager software development group at Cisco Systems. Mike has worked on feature development, scalability, and platform development. Prior to joining Cisco in 2000, he developed telephony software at AT&T/Lucent Technologies and was a software manager for the Space Environment Laboratory at the U.S. Department of Commerce. Mike holds M.S. degrees in both mathematics and computer science and a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Colorado.

Stefano Giorcelli is a technical marketing engineer in the Voice Technology group at Cisco Systems. In this role, he works closely with engineering and product management, and focuses on assisting Cisco technical salespeople, partners, and customers to design IP Communications networks. He has contributed to numerous design guides, application notes, and technical white papers on various topics related to IP Communications, and regularly gives technical presentations at public conferences and internal training events. Stefano holds an M.S. in telecommunications engineering from the Politecnico di Torino, Italy.

Dave Goodwin, Routing & Switching and Voice CCIE No. 4992, is a customer support engineer for the Cisco TAC. He is responsible for providing escalation support to the Cisco TAC voice teams worldwide, as well as discovering and resolving issues in new and emerging Cisco IP Communications products. He also works closely with Cisco engineering teams and is actively involved in the field trials of new products. Dave has been with Cisco for 7 years and has worked as a network engineer for 10 years.

Graham Gudgin, CCIE No. 2370, is a technical marketing engineer in the Voice Systems Engineering group at Cisco Systems. He is a member of the team responsible for IP Communications system designs and the creation of Solution Reference Network Designs posted at http://www.cisco.com/go/srnd. Previously, Graham worked in the field and Cisco TAC specializing in the development and design of packet, cell, and TDM- and voice-based systems.

James He is a hardware engineer in the Data Center, Switch, and Wireless group at Cisco Systems. James worked in the wireless industry for CDMA and GSM before joining Cisco in 1999. In his first two years at Cisco, he helped develop VoIP and VoATM compliance testing capabilities on IOS. For the past four years, James has focused on developing VoIP compliance capabilities for CallManager. He holds an M.S. in electrical engineering from Cornell University.

Dr. Cullen Jennings is a distinguished engineer in the Voice Technology group at Cisco Systems. He is currently focusing on rich media, conferencing, security, and firewall and NAT traversal. Cullen is a co-chair of the IETF IP Telephone working group. He has worked with many of Cisco’s key customers to help craft their voice security solutions and is a frequent speaker at major voice and security conferences. Cullen is an author of the book Practical VoIP, published by O’Reilly.

Stawan Kadepurkar is a software development manager with Infosys Technologies Ltd. He has worked on CallManager for the past six years and helps design and develop some of the features and applications. He works closely with the CallManager development, QA, and TAC/field support teams. Stawan has been working in this industry for the past 10 years.

Jackie Lee is a manager in the CallManager software development group at Cisco Systems. She holds an M.S. in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California and has worked for Cisco Systems since 1999.

Kevin McMenamy is a senior technical marketing engineer in the Cisco IP Communications business unit. His responsibilities include technical marketing for CallManager and IP Phones and contributing to the design and development of various other key architectural areas such as quality of service (QoS); core voice and video signaling protocols such as H.323, SIP, and SCCP; and security. He is a coauthor of Cisco IP Video Telephony Solutions Reference Network Design (SRND) and has contributed to several other SRNDs, white papers, application notes, and magazine articles. Kevin is currently focused on the design and development of CallManager release 5.x and the next generation of SIP-based IP Phones and applications.

Hakim Mehmood is a software engineer in the Voice Technology group at Cisco Systems. In this role, he works on software development and focuses on protocols and call control. He has contributed in the areas of signaling protocol development, most recently Annex M1. In his career, Hakim has worked mostly on Voice over Packet (VoATM and VoIP) as well as legacy PSTN signaling (SS7/ISDN).

Larry Michalewicz is a software development manager in the Enterprise Voice Hardware Engineering group at Cisco Systems. He has managed the third-generation phone-quality team for one year, and previously worked as an engineer and manager on the CallManager sustaining/critical accounts team for five years. Larry has worked with CallManager since release 1.0 and has worked for Cisco Systems for 12 years. He holds a B.S. in computer science from the University of North Texas and is the author of three patents.

Aruna Muvvala is a software development manager in the Network Management Technology group at Cisco Systems. His group is responsible for IP Telephony management applications, which include CiscoWorks IP Telephony Environment Monitor. Aruna has been at Cisco for more than 9 years and has worked in networking software development for more than 10 years.

Kevin Nash is a software engineer in the CallManager software development group at Cisco Systems. He has been working on product development in VoIP technologies for the past 12 years and has worked in the telecommunications field for 20 years. Kevin has been employed at Cisco Systems for the past five years.

Ping Ni, Ph.D., is a technical leader for Cisco CallManager. She is currently the lead engineer for the development of various supplementary services for CallManager. Ping has been involved in the development of various components inside CallManager software during the past six years.

Joe Pinkus is a diagnostic engineer for the Advanced Engineering Services group at Cisco Systems. He is responsible for helping customers design, implement, and troubleshoot IP Communications solutions in their environment. He has been with Cisco as a TAC engineer for more than six years.

John Restrick is a manager in the CallManager software development group at Cisco Systems. He was named a Cisco Innovator for his work introducing video telephony in CallManager. In addition to video, John works in voice protocol interoperability, media, and security. He holds a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley in statistics and has been with Cisco since 2001.

Herb Sayre, MCSE #1332518, is a software engineer in the CallManager software development group at Cisco Systems. He has 14 years of experience in software design and development. Herb has worked at Cisco since 1999 and has spent the last five years focused on CallManager software development.

Satyam Tyagi is a software development engineer at Sipera Systems. He works on innovative technology to detect, mitigate, and prevent attacks on VoIP and network infrastructure. Previously he was a software engineer in the CallManager software development group at Cisco Systems for four years. He worked in areas such as MLPP, MGCP, QSIG, PRI/CAS, and other gateway protocols. Xi Zha is a network engineer and software programmer at Cisco Systems. He holds M.S. degrees in computer science and telecommunication engineering. He has years of experience in software development and network design. For the past four years, he has focused on serviceability for Cisco CallManager.
