Ved Sen has been working on emerging technologies from the mid-1990s. Starting with the Internet and ecommerce, and going on to interactive television, mobile apps, the Internet of things, augmented reality, and AI, he has been at the coal face of driving projects that use new technologies to make a difference in organizations. Ved currently works as a Digital Evangelist and Innovation Lead for Tata Consultancy Services, in London, and his day job involves solving problems that don’t have ready solutions.
Ved completed his Graduation in Economics at Presidency College, Kolkata, and went to the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, one of India’s best business schools. But he was never drawn to mainstream career options, and spent time in advertising and journalism before discovering the world of Internet and technology. Thanks to his educational background, he has always evaluated technology from the logical perspective of a lay person and tried to ask and answer fundamental questions about the structure, use, and value of technologies.
A self-confessed techno-optimist, Ved believes that technology can be used to solve some of the world’s bigger problems, but that it also influences society, culture, politics, and every other aspect of our lives. His current work and thinking also focuses on using technology for driving social value as well as business outcomes.
Ved grew up in Kolkata, India, and spent time in Bangalore, the tech hub of India, before settling in London where he has been for much of the past 20 years. He now lives in St. Albans, on the outskirts of London with his wife and daughter. He plays soccer and badminton on weekends and practices on his saxophone in his nonexistent spare time.
