The chapters in this part introduce you to forces and moments, which are common effects that influence rigid bodies. I explain the different types of translational effects, known as forces, and how to compute the resultant (that is, the combined effect) of a distributed force; to further your resultant prowess, I also demonstrate how to determine the location of this resultant through centroid (or center of area) calculations. In addition, I show you multiple ways of computing a rotational effect known as a moment, including using vectors and utilizing scalar values.
