Ruggero Golini is assistant professor at the Università degli Studi di Bergamo, where he teaches general management. He also teaches supply chain management and project management at the MIP Business School (Milan, Italy). He received a double master degree in 2006 in management engineering (at Politecnico di Milano and Politecnico di Torino) by attending the Alta Scuola Politecnica. The Alta Scuola Politecnica (ASP) is one of the nine Scuole di Alta Formazione in Italy (i.e., schools for highly selected students) and consists of an additional program that runs in parallel to the master of sciences encompassing interdisciplinary courses on innovation and design processes and the development of projects, in multidisciplinary teams, for external firms and institutions. In 2009, he was a visiting scholar at the Center on Globalization, Governance and Competitiveness of Duke University (USA). In 2011, he obtained a PhD in economics and technology management at Università degli Studi di Bergamo. In August 2011, he was selected and attended the fourth Lindau meeting in economic sciences, where he had the chance to meet more than 15 Nobel prize winners in economic sciences. He has published several articles in international journals, such as International Journal of Production Economics and International Journal of Operations and Production Management.

Paolo Landoni is assistant professor at the Politecnico di Milano (Italy), where he teaches a course of general management. He also teaches innovation management at the MIP Business School (Milan, Italy), where he directs the postgraduate master on open innovation and knowledge transfer. He received a master of science degree in bioengineering and a PhD in management, economics, and industrial engineering from the Politecnico di Milano university and he has been a visiting scholar at the Department of Economics and Applied Economics of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KULeuven). His research is in the area of social and collaborative innovation management, with a focus on the management of knowledge development, research, and collaborations considering both the firms’ perspective and the perspectives of public sector and third-sector organizations (governments, universities, not-for-profit organizations, etc.). He has published five books and papers in relevant peer-reviewed journals (such as Research Policy, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, International Journal of Technology Management, Project Management Journal, Research Evaluation, Technology Analysis & Strategic Management, and International Journal of Foresight and Innovation Policy). He has served as a consultant for firms, non-profits organizations, and regional and national government institutions for the development of innovations and innovation policies.

Matteo Kalchschmidt is associate professor at the Università degli Studi di Bergamo, where he teaches innovation and project management. He also teaches demand management and project management at the MIP Business School (Milan, Italy). He received his master degree in 1999 in management engineering at Politecnico di Milano. In 2003 he obtained a PhD in management engineering at Politecnico di Milano. His research interests are in global supply chain management, sustainability and project management. He has published several articles in international journals, such as International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Operations and Production Management, and International Journal of Project Management. He is area editor for the Operations Management Research journal.
