In this chapter, we learned how to create a Spotfire development environment, by installing the following TIBCO Spotfire platform products: TIBCO Spotfire Server, TIBCO Spotfire Professional, and TIBCO Spotfire Web Player Server.

All the components were installed in a single machine, where a database instance (for the server) was previously installed and configured, enabling the creation of an environment without any external dependencies.

After the installation procedure, we focused on the subjects of environment configuration, administration, and management.

In the next chapter, we will begin using our environment to explore the creation and manipulation of rich data visualizations using Spotfire Professional.
