DEDICATION

In Virginia in the early 1960s, my mother watched as I started drawing the world around me. She saw not only my love of art but also an ability to excel in it. For the rest of her life she offered constant encouragement and, more importantly, she never discouraged me in my dream of becoming an artist.

It’s because of her that I used my art on some of America’s biggest cases, taught thousands of others to draw and helped to produce the book you now hold in your hand. Her example of encouragement to me as an artist is the most important lesson in this book. God bless you, Mom.
