ABOUT THE AUTHORS

BARRY LIBERT is Chairman and CEO of OpenMatters and a Senior Fellow at the Wharton School’s SEI Center, the world’s first think tank for management education. Libert also serves on the boards of several companies, providing business model and platform expertise, and has been a strategic adviser to the leaders of such companies as AT&T, Microsoft, GE Healthcare, Deloitte, ESPN, and Goldman Sachs. He has spent the last fifteen years investing in digital start-ups (social, mobile, and cloud). His portfolio companies manage digital networks for more than three hundred brands. His passion is researching business models and value, and he has written and lectured extensively on this topic. He holds a BA from Tufts University and an MBA from Columbia Business School. He lives in Boston and is happily married and the father of two grown sons.

MEGAN BECK is the Chief Insights Officer at OpenMatters, where she leads research, publications, and curriculum initiatives. She is also an associate on network initiatives at the Wharton SEI Center. Megan is a former consultant and spent several years at Bain & Company before leaving to advise clients directly in her areas of expertise, including digital technology, entrepreneurship, and human capital management. A longtime Longhorn, she received a BA in the Plan II Honors Program at the University of Texas at Austin, as well as a BS in computer science. She holds an MBA from the McCombs School of Business.

JERRY (YORAM) WIND is the Lauder Professor and Professor of Marketing at the Wharton School and the founding director of the SEI Center for Advanced Studies in Management. He is internationally known for pioneering research on networked organizations, leadership mental models, and marketing strategy. He consults with major firms around the world, providing expert testimony, and has lectured at over fifty universities worldwide. He has authored more than two dozen books on various topics, including network theory, innovation, and leadership.

OPENMATTERS is a data science company. It focuses on analyzing business models and the underlying sources of value. The firm harnesses technology, big data and analytics to categorize and measure business model performance. OpenMatters uses proprietary research to build indices and ratings for investors and strategies and rankings for companies to help both achieve better returns.
