Chapter 23. XSLT extensions

Although this book focuses on the inherent capabilities of XSLT version 1.0, this standard includes some features for handling enhancements to the XSLT standard itself, as well as product-specific enhancements that tool vendors may add, with the purpose of preventing errors when a stylesheet with such enhancements is processed using an XSLT processor developed to support an earlier version of the standard, or developed by another vendor. But it is the responsibility of the stylesheet author to be aware of these features and to implement the safeguards described in this chapter.
