Having contemplated upon Yogyathwa—the trunk of our majestic leadership elephant—we now shift focus to the limbs on which the elephant stands. These can be considered as pillars on which one must build his leadership capacities. In this section we take on the fore limbs in a bid to understand the significance of the reader/student addressing ‘suzerainty needs’ and ‘team needs’.
We have already seen that a leader is not the same as a position suzerain. And of these two, it is leadership that is the focus of study in this book. Nonetheless, since position suzerainty (henceforth mentioned as suzerainty) is where leadership is of particular interest to organizations, suzerainty too needs to be understood in a very generic or fundamental way. Understanding this is vital for getting a complete view of leadership.
