ABOUT THE AUTHORS

THOMAS H. DAVENPORT is the President’s Distinguished Professor of IT and Management at Babson College and a research fellow at the MIT Initiative on the Digital Economy. He is also cofounder of the International Institute for Analytics and a senior adviser to Deloitte Analytics. Davenport has authored, coauthored, or edited nineteen books, including five on analytics and cognitive technology. His 2006 article “Competing on Analytics” was named one of the ten “must read” articles in Harvard Business Review’s ninety-year history. He has been named one of the top 25 consultants in the world by Consulting magazine, one of the 100 most influential people in the IT industry by Ziff Davis Publications, and one of the top 50 business school professors in the world by Fortune magazine.

JEANNE G. HARRIS is on the faculty at Columbia University, where she teaches Business Analytics Management. She is the coauthor of two books and over one hundred articles on analytics and information technology. Harris is executive research fellow emerita and was the global Managing Director of Information Technology and Analytics Research at the Accenture Institute for High Performance in Chicago. During her career at Accenture, she led various consulting practices, including business intelligence, analytics, and data warehousing. She also serves on the INFORMS Analytics Certification Board, which oversees the Certified Analytics Professional (CAP™) program. In 2009, she received Consulting magazine’s Women Leaders in Consulting award for Lifetime Achievement.
