Refer to Figure 34-5 on page 1001. This example shows an IBA module with two, separate on-board IOUs, each of which contains one IOC. Each of the IOUs contain the following BM-related entities:
A single port (port 1) connected to the IBA fabric through the chassis backplane.
Inbound IBA SMPs arriving through the port are delivered to the port's SMI.
The SMI passes SMP request packets to the IOU's SMA for processing. Among other SM-related attributes, this permits the SM to access the port's GUID as well as the IOU's NodeGUID.
BM GMPs are sent and received using the port's GSI.
The IOU's BMA receives inbound BM MADs and is also capable of sending BM MADS through the port's GSI:
- By issuing BM MADs, the BM can access the MME and, if necessary, the MME can use its IB-ML channel to communicate with the CME that is embedded in the chassis.
- When necessary, the CME can issue a message over the IB-ML channel to the module's MME and can also cause the MME to use the BMA to transmit a BM MAD to the BM.
