Clip art is a treasure trove of absolutely free art you can use in your presentations to help get your message across or simply to add some visual excitement. Clip art includes photos, illustrations, movies, and sounds. When you installed PowerPoint, it came with one collection of clip art; however, you can also browse the Internet to access other collections. You can use the Clip Art task pane to search for and insert clip art.
Although clip art is typically free, other art you find on the Internet is not. You must get permission to use any art or text you find online and sometimes must pay a fee. If you want additional free clip art, a safe bet is to go to Microsoft Office’s Web site and browse for clip art collections.
With a layout containing a content placeholder displayed, click the Clip Art icon.
Enter a search term in the Search For text box to find related art.
Click the arrow on the Search In field and choose the collections to search.
Click the arrow on the Results Should Be field and choose the format of media you want to search.
You don’t have to use a content placeholder to insert clip art; you can insert it anywhere on any slide layout by clicking the Clip Art button on the Insert tab. This opens the Clip Art task pane. Follow the steps in the Search for Clip Art task to locate and insert clip art on your slide.
Clip art often appears larger than you may want it for your presentation, overlapping other elements on your slide. Don’t worry! Chapter 9 provides steps for resizing and moving clip art on your slides.
