Getting started with MiniEdit

MiniEdit comes with a very simple interface canvas with icons that represent various tools. To open the interface, you have to run the following, which is the interface presented by MiniEdit that includes various tool icons:

$ sudo ~/mininet/examples/miniedit.py
  • Select tool: This is typically used for the movement of nodes on the canvas
  • Host tool: This is used to create end-host nodes on the canvas
  • Switch tool: This is used to create an OpenFlow-enabled switch on the canvas
  • Legacy Switch tool: This is used to create a traditional learning Ethernet switch with default settings on the canvas
  • Legacy Router tool: This is used to create an independently functioning legacy router used for IP forwarding on the canvas
  • NetLink tool: This is used to create links between the nodes on the canvas
  • Controller tool: This is used to create an OpenFlow-supported controller
  • Run and Stop tool: These are used to start and stop the Mininet simulation that is currently presented on the MiniEdit canvas
