Creating a custom topology on Mininet canvas

In order to create a complete custom topology on the Mininet canvas, you will be required to use the tools that were introduced in the section:

  1. First, we will begin with placing the hosts on the canvas. To achieve this, you have to click on the host tool and then go to the canvas and click on the point you need the host to appear on. After doing that, the host will be created and it will be done in a sequential order, that is, h1, h2, h3, and so on.
  2. Next, we have to place the desired switch on the canvas. In this demonstration, we are using the OpenFlow enabled switch. Click on the switch tool and place it just like the host was placed earlier.
  3. The controllers should also be placed as it was done for the hosts and switches.
  4. We then have to connect the devices with links between them. Clicking on the NetLink tool, you click on the first device you wish to connect and then click on the other device.

  1. In the MiniEdit canvas, a host should be connected to a switch, every switch to another switch, then one of the switches must be connected to the controller.
