Chapter 7. CORBA

The Common Object Requesting Broker Architecture (CORBA) is a standard defined by the Object Management Group (OMG). It enables software components developed in different technologies and those running in different environments to work together. Geronimo integrates Apache Yoko in order to support CORBA, and the focus is mainly on EJBs. EJBs can be exposed through CORBA, so that they can be invoked from remote CORBA clients. The components running in Geronimo can also invoke EJBs through CORBA. In this chapter, we will see how the EJBs, which run in Geronimo, can be made available through CORBA, and how the remote EJB references can be configured to invoke remote EJBs through CORBA. You will learn the following:

  • How to configure EJBs running in Geronimo so that they are accessible through CORBA

  • How to configure remote EJB references in Geronimo in order to invoke EJBs exposed through CORBA
