So there you have it. Now you know the secret to success: your 12 key people and personalities.

Your Promoters, Pit Crew, Teachers and Butt-kickers will push and pull you towards your goals, stretch and challenge you, encourage you to reach out beyond the status quo, help you achieve what you never thought possible.

Hopefully your network already includes individuals who fill many of the roles you identified in chapters 5 and 6. But it's highly likely that working through part II has identified gaps and some real ‘aha' insights into who you need to find to make up your network puzzle of you.

Do you need to cut from your network someone who functions as one of the 12 Shadow Archetypes? Do you need to find a Cheerleader, Professor, Mentor or Balancer?

In the next part, we'll explore how to go about filling these gaps. We'll explore the tools you need to start to really work your strategic and smart network.

Coasting through networking events and virtual connections will not transport you from here to success. In fact, it will risk undoing all the great work we've done!

So you must be very clear on your own personality, what your goals are, what you're searching for and why, and then make sure your interactions are consistent and purposeful.

You need to work through three key stages:

  1. CHOOSE — What are your goals and why are you networking? Chapter 8 will help you uncover your own personality so you can work out how to make networking work for you.
  2. CONNECT — How do you connect in the right way? Find out in chapter 9.
  3. CULTIVATE — What value can you offer others? Chapter 10 reveals the secrets to networking like a real pro.
