Stephanie Calabrese Roberts is an award-winning documentary photographer, writer, and the creator of LittlePurpleCow Productions. Stephanie is the author of The Art of iPhoneography: A Guide to Mobile Creativity, and co-author of Expressive Photography: A Shutter Sisters Guide to Shooting from the Heart. Both books are available in numerous languages and distributed throughout the world. Her photography and writing have been published on www.life.com, www.forbes.com, Digital Photo magazine, Photographer’s i magazine, and ASMP Bulletin, the publication of the American Society of Media Photographers. Stephanie is also a regular contributor to Shutter Sisters, the most popular online women’s photography community.
In 2009, Stephanie (in partnership with fellow Shutter Sister Jen Lemen) won the “Name Your Dream Assignment” global photography competition sponsored by Microsoft and Lenovo. This award sent her on a journey to remote regions of Rwanda, Tanzania, and Nepal to capture and share images and stories of hope from wise and courageous changemakers, genocide survivors, and refugees. Following her Picture Hope project experience, she founded non-profit organization Lens on Life, Inc. in January 2011 with a vision to extend documentary photography education and resources to children and young adults living in material poverty around the world.
A social media and technology enthusiast, Stephanie is among the early leaders in the mobile photography movement and documents her own life through the lens of her iPhone on a near daily basis. She is mostly adventurous, always curious, and the proud mother of two fascinating children.
