Note what signs are there for visitors, and where they are

Check where lights are set up around the site. This might be fixed to buildings or free-standing around the grounds

There are usually allocated Vehicle turning areas, so note where there are

Parking areas including short-term parking, long-term, staff, deliveries

Show the regular routes for fork-lift trucks and other vehicles

Look out for poor surface areas on roads and paths/walkways, kerbs/edges and steps pedestrians have to use

Waste/trash skips; dustbins/trashcans —any areas where rubbish or waste materials are left waiting for disposal

Important to note where LPG, chemicals, flammable substances are stored

Note storage tanks for water, oil, or other liquids

Include any obsolete machinery, equipment, vehicles, pallets you find on site

Security: Look closely at perimeter gates and fences —do they need some action to make them more appropriate?

Security lights and CCTV—is it all in the right place? Does it work?

Overhead power lines are overlooked, as are fuse boxes outside the buildings

Roof details—secure/safe/needing repair/hazardous materials (such as asbestos)/fragile.
