When you discover problems with Group Policy processing, you can use a number of techniques to track down the problem. You should first check the most obvious points of possible failure, which primarily have to do with the general configuration of Group Policy and the configuration of systems that are processing policy. If you are unable to locate the problem in the policy or system configuration, you can dig deeper by checking the Resultant Set of Policy (RSoP) from both a client and server perspective. You can often track down policy problems in the RSoP logs, but if you don’t find the answers you are looking for, you can use the Group Policy logs to further investigate the problem. Many types of Group Policy logs are available. Some must be enabled or configured for detailed logging. When you are finished troubleshooting using the logs, you should disable any detailed logging modes you’ve enabled to restore normal policy processing and logging.
