A couple of years ago I was asked to deliver a paper on Change Management at a business symposium, and as I was speaking in the afternoon I decided to listen in on earlier speakers, so I could engage with any emerging themes. That decision was such a game changer for me as one of those speakers turned out to be David Potter.

I have been an advocate and practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) for over 20 years but, to be honest, I find a great deal of published work to be difficult to apply into everyday work-life. When I heard David speak, he delivered an enthralling presentation which was immediately accessible, practical, and inspirational. From that moment I was keen to learn as much as possible about David’s refreshing approach to NLP and its application to support organizational change, leadership development and personal growth. When I heard that David would be writing a book in which he would be sharing his ideas I was delighted!

I genuinely believe that if Human Resource/Organizational Development professionals are to make a meaningful contribution to their business, it is essential that they are considered to be experts on human behaviour, and are equipped with a quiver full of ideas that could support the continued successful development of their business. In this book, David has presented a fantastic distillation of his ability to accessibly communicate his expertise in researching and disseminating novel and meticulously researched themes for the professional practitioner’s tool-kit.

There are many fascinating aspects to this book; however, most impressively, David elegantly conveys the key theoretical components of NLP, simultaneously providing practical ideas that can provide any HR/OD practitioner with a guide to achieving more effective organizational change with people placed at the centre of the approach.

David has conveyed a great ability to connect the various theoretical aspects of NLP into accessible, effective everyday language supported by great human insight and observation. David writes with the gravitas and authority of a person in total command of their subject. There is a great need for this book as it offers a comprehensive illustration of how you can bring a new and refreshing approach to organizational and cultural change through the application of NLP. David helps you understand how to use specific techniques to have the maximum impact and encourages you to experiment, be bold, creative, and authentic.

I really do hope that you gain as much from reading this book as I have from David’s approach to cultural change. I can think of no better NLP practitioner to learn from with a strong moral and ethical compass – by the end of the book I am sure you will be inspired – I hope you enjoy the adventure and experience!
