In the previous chapter, we discussed the factors and techniques involved in creating a PowerPivot for SharePoint environment. In this chapter, we will discuss in detail the benefits of using SharePoint as the collaboration and sharing platform for your PowerPivot solutions.

As you create solutions involving larger volumes of data, by no coincidence PowerPivot's sweet spot, sharing workbooks via e-mail will no longer be practical. Even with the data compression features of PowerPivot for Excel, solutions with millions of fact rows can quickly outstrip the attachment restriction policies of most corporate e-mail systems. SharePoint is the ideal platform for publishing your PowerPivot solutions.
