This chapter explains the concept design stage of the design process and details the tasks involved in drawing up a number of different viable concept designs—from concept generation to drawing, modeling to prototyping—that satisfy the requirements of the product outlined in the Product Design Specification (PDS). It also explains the techniques of concept evaluation and selection, showing how to choose and develop the most suitable concept.
