MAGGIE'S VISION

Since I was a small girl I always had a plan, and I knew I would follow my life on my own terms. I imagined from the beginning what I wanted—a simple, fulfilling life surrounded by art and beauty. Obviously, my imagination drew the path and set the milestones for every step of the way: where I wanted to be, how fast I wanted to get there and what I was willing to sacrifice. Early on I knew that I wanted to be an entrepreneur. I started drawing a map, a plan. I understood that surrounding myself with people who had integrity, intelligence and focus would help support my goals. I made a personal commitment to learn everything I could about achieving success at every level of my life.

I started with architecture as the main focus of my career. I tried to expose myself to significant architectural and design work, to help feed my passion and gain inspiration.

As it turned out, today I'm not an architect, but a graphic designer. I'm not leading a team of architects or construction workers, but a design team, which gives me other avenues to explore in expressing my vision and helping my clients. I come from a culture where the highest-level positions and professional respect are reserved for men. My vision was not to be limited by that reality but to exceed every expectation. That is not to say it has been easy—I have always had to work especially hard to prove myself academically and in the workplace. I am the first woman in my family to pursue a professional career. I set out to excel as a designer, problem solver and entrepreneur while balancing my responsibilities as a daughter, sister, friend, wife and mother.

I've always had a hunger to grow as a person and to learn more from others. I have sought out role models for every aspect of my life. I try to understand what these people have done and apply their wisdom to my intuitive vision. I want to get there faster, stronger and better.

Now that you know how awesome you can be when you capture your intuitive vision, let's explore the role engagement plays in achieving your desired future.

Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them and try to follow where they lead.
