Pictures

All pictures in the book have been created by me personally. Except for the spiderweb picture that has been made by Josje Rink and the Indian elephant and Indian temple pictures that have been made by Jan de Jager.

Each chapter has a series of pictures that have been selected for a reason:

Management Summary: this is the famous Nightwatch from Rembrandt in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Management is watching (and hopefully acting as well).

Chapter 1: we are part of nature. Nature has so much in stock and one example is the Keukenhof in the Netherlands, where nature is shaped by means of flower compositions.

Chapter 2: your project needs a firm and solid base. The rock formations in California and Colorado show what solid is for millions of years. The sequoia tree shows how to survive in many circumstances for over 2500 years such as being creative, having perseverance, being flexible, and adapting to the circumstances to survive as a project manager.

Chapter 3: you will deliver (hopefully) sustainable products that will last a long time. These ancient buildings in the Netherlands (Amersfoort, Amerongen, Maastricht, and Veere) represent sustainable products.

Chapter 4: your stakeholders and your team may consist of people from different cultures and nationalities. San Francisco is a melting pot in the United States, representing this mixture.

Chapter 5: your project might be (partly) executed in a country that is attractive for outsourcing work. An example of such a country is Slovakia with its capital Bratislava.

Chapter 6: we live surrounded by illusions and are we aware and making contact with our own inner child? Disney World in Orlando, United States, and Paris are also showing a lot of illusions (e.g., part of the San Francisco city has been built but the city is only a few meters thick, so a lot of illusion) and could help us in making contact with our own inner child.

Things are not what they seem . . .

Chapter 7: personal development means not only development of the mind but also development of the body (mind and body are the same). Walking and cycling are some examples of physical exercises that also relax the mind. These pictures show what I’ve seen by walking and cycling locally.

Chapter 8: information, material, etc., for your Steering Committee, for instance, can be presented in many different ways. Museums have a variety to present (interactively)—their artifacts, for instance.
