As we suggested at the start of this book, it is a good idea to reassess your skills and, crucially, your confidence in using those skills now that you have completed the influence workout.
Remember: this workout is not necessarily a quick fix. You may need to revisit certain steps time and again until they feel like a habit to you. Learning new skills can happen quickly, but deep personal change takes a lot longer to settle in.
Use this questionnaire as the starting point for your continued personal and professional development.
Re-score yourself 1–10 for each of these questions, with 10 indicating a high level of confidence and skill and 1 a low level:
Once you have read the book, completed all the exercises more than once and spent some time working on the techniques with a training partner mentor, take the questionnaire again and notice in which areas you have developed significantly and which still require attention.
Ideally, you should set yourself five clear, achievable influencing goals and work towards them over the next six months or so. Make sure you check in regularly with this questionnaire to monitor your progress.
Remember: becoming influential doesn’t happen overnight, it’s a lifelong project!
