The Setup gear icon is located in the top right-hand area of the main Home page.

- Type the text static resources in the Quick Find search box, as shown in the following screenshot:
- Select the Static Resources option.
- Click on New, as shown in the following screenshot:
We will be presented with the Static Resources setup page.
- Enter or paste the text HelpText in the Name textbox.
- Optionally, enter a value in the Description field.
- Click on Choose File.
- Select the document to upload from your computer.
In this recipe, choose the PDF document referred to in Step 1.
- Ignore the Cache Control picklist selection and leave it as default Private (Cache Control is only relevant to static resources used in https://www.salesforce.com/products/platform/products/force/?d=70130000000f27V&internal=true).
- Click Save, as shown in the following screenshot:
Now that we have a PDF document stored within Salesforce, we can reference the file from within a Lightning Component. This Lightning Component can then be accessed from the link called Help for this Page, which is displayed on a custom object record detail page.
