Configuring DNS delegation for third-party domain names

You can configure DNS delegation by performing the following steps:

  1. Create a DNS zone for the domain you want to delegate. In this scenario, I've got a domain name registered by GoDaddy. I've already created a DNS zone for it.
  2. Then, navigate to the created DNS zone in the overview, and copy all the name servers to change the domain registrar name servers with these ones.
  3. Navigate to the domain registrar domain manager to manage your domain name.
  4. For GoDaddy users, they can access the domain manager via the following link: https://dcc.godaddy.com/manage/dns?domainName=<your domain name>.
  1. Scroll down until you see the Nameservers section, as shown in the following screenshot:

  1. Click on Change.
  2. Then, change the name server type to Custom, as shown in the following screenshot:

  1. Then, add all the name servers for the Azure DNS zone and click on Save, as shown in the following screenshot:

  1. Once saved, you will note that it will ask for confirmation by saving it again, until it gets changed to the custom name servers you have specified, as shown in the following screenshot:
