Configuring the backend pool

By now, you should configure the backend pool for the application gateway. To do so, you need to follow the steps:

  1. Navigate to the application gateway.
  2. Under SETTINGS, click on Backend pools, and a new blade will be opened, as shown in the following screenshot:

  1. You will see that there is a backend pool created named appGatewayBackendPool but with no targets. So, in order to add a target for it, you have to click on it and a new blade will be opened, as shown in the following screenshot:

  1. To add targets to the backend pool, you have to click on Add target. Then, you need to specify the type of the target. Either by entering the IP address or FQDN, as shown in the following screenshot:

  1. Or you can select the Virtual Machine option, and the network IP network configuration associated with it, as shown in the following screenshot:

  1. You can add more targets by clicking on Add target and specifying them, as you have learned in this section.
  2. Also, you can add another backend pool by clicking on Add on the Backend pool blade and specify the target for this backend pool.
