Creating a public IP address

Before getting started with this configuration, you need to make sure you have a un-used public IP address. So, let's get started by creating a new public IP:

  1. Search for public ip, as shown in the following screenshot:

  1. Once you have clicked on Add, the following blade will pop up, asking you to specify the following fields:
    • Name: The name of the public IP. I recommend specifying a name that describes the purpose of the IP.
    • IP Version: Specify the version of the IP address.
    • IP address assignment: Specify whether you want it Dynamic or Static, taking into account that the static one costs more than the dynamic one. However, the static one is highly recommended for load balancers.
    • Idle timeout (minutes): The period within which the public IP will keep a TCP or HTTP connection open without relying on clients to send keep-alive messages.
    • DNS name label: An A record that starts with the specified label and resolves to this public IP address will be registered with the Azure-provided DNS servers.
    • Create an IPv6 address: Tick this option if you want this public IP to have an additional IPv6 address.
    • Subscription: Specify the subscription that will be charged for using this IP.
    • Resource group: Specify the resource group on which this IP will exist.
    • Location: Specify the location on which this public IP address resource will be created:
