To do some manipulations to the HTTP settings of the application gateway, you need to perform the following steps:
- Navigate to the application gateway.
- Under SETTINGS, click on HTTP settings, as shown in the following screenshot:

- You will note that by default there settings already added, which can be changed by clicking on it and changing the settings, or you can click on Add to add a new HTTP settings.
- When you click on Add, a new blade will be opened wherein you have to specify the following:
- Name: Specify a descriptive name for the settings.
- Cookie-based affinity: Specify whether you want to enable this feature or not.
- Request timeout: Specify the period after which the request will be considered as timed-out.
- Protocol: Select the protocol that would fit your application, whether it is HTTP or HTTPS. If HTTPS is selected, you would need to specify a name for the certificate and upload the CER certificate that would be used to authenticate the backend servers.
- Use custom probe: If you have custom probes created, you can select this option. Later in this chapter, you will learn how to create custom probes.

- Once you have clicked on OK, the HTTP settings will be added.
