Summary

We learned a lot in this chapter about importing transactions into GnuCash as well as exporting transactions from GnuCash.

Specifically, we covered:

  • Using your smartphone: We looked at two different formats in which you can save the transactions in your smartphone and then sync it or upload it to your PC and then import that into GnuCash.
  • Using a third-party expense tracking service: We learned how to make use of a third-party expense tracking service to send transactions and then bring them into GnuCash.
  • Migrating from other accounting software to GnuCash: We covered the various formats and processes available to migrate from other accounting software to GnuCash.
  • Exporting transactions from GnuCash: We saw that there were two ways available to export transactions out of GnuCash.

Now that we've covered all of the features that will be of use to most normal users of GnuCash, we're ready to look at some of the advanced features of GnuCash which is the topic of the next chapter.
