Creating a filter pane with Order Year and Order Month fields

To add the filter pane to the sheet, follow these steps:

  1. Before adding the filter pane, resize the KPI chart for Sales $ by reducing the width by three cell columns and making some room on the left-hand side of the screen:

  1. Click on the Charts button that lies on the asset panel, which is on the left-hand side of the screen, to open the chart selector panel.
  1. Click on Filter pane and drag and drop it into the empty space to the left of the Sales $ KPI on the sheet:

  1. Open the Data section in the properties panel on the right-hand side of the screen:

  1. Click on the Add Dimension button and search for and select Order Year.
  2. Repeat step 3 to add another dimension, then search for and select Order Month.
  3. Fix the width of the other KPI objects to keep the font the same size.
  4. Click on the Done button to enter the visualization mode. The sheet will look like what's shown in the following screenshot:

The dashboard depicts four things, as follows:

  • KPI visualizations, showing the performance metrics for quick insight. We have $1.27M in sales for the whole period, with an average discount of 5.71% and 830 orders processed.
  • The pie chart compares the sales by category, showing the most relevant. We can see that Beverages is our top performing category.
  • The bar chart shows the top performing customers, with the first three sales amounts being very close to each other.
  • The map shows the distribution of sales by country. The USA and Germany are the top performers.

In the next section, you will learn how to create two analysis sheets: one for customer analysis, and another for product analysis.
