JMS applications can work with any operating systems, but they only support the Java platform. If we want to develop a messaging system to communicate with more than one system, then all those systems should be developed using Java programming languages.

While using AMQP, we can develop a messaging system that can communicate with any system with different technologies. So it is not required for a destination system to be developed in the same technology.
