UNLOCK RESOURCES
FROM WITHIN

As a leader you are often required to do more with less or to do better with no additional inputs. So the challenge becomes, how do you unlock valuable resources that already exist in yourself and in your organization to meet these new demands? This section’s contributors offer three unique perspectives on how you can unlock valuable resources—resources that are often invisible and not yet accessed. One approach focuses on cultivating a state of thriving at work as a critical means for fostering energy, commitment, satisfaction, innovation, and health. A second perspective encourages leaders to construct positive identities as a means for generating vital resources such as more confidence, persistence, and creativity. The third approach encourages you to use the discretion that you (and others) have within a job to craft it to fit your strengths, passions, and values as a means for unleashing motivation and engagement. Being a positive leader implies being able to imagine and to act on the possibilities that there are always resources to be tapped—it just requires seeing and knowing how to unlock them.
