Best Practices

The following are best practices from this chapter:

  • Use the basic mode OWA client when client bandwidth access is limited.

  • Use the premium mode OWA client when full functionality is desired.

  • Change pane size to customize the OWA view and meet your needs.

  • Use Ctrl or Shift when selecting emails for deletion; this speeds up the process of deleting several messages at the same time.

  • Use quick flags to create reminders or to bring attention to a message for Outlook users.

  • Use keyboard shortcuts to simplify menu button tasks or functions.

  • Customize task views to give a user the ability to see pertinent task information.

  • Send mail to an email contact by selecting the contact and choosing to send the email to the contact.

  • In Contact Distribution lists, include only recipients from the GAL, not from the user's contact list.

  • Because S/MIME attachments are supported by OWA, use them to extend encryption and digitally signed messages for enhanced security.
