Getting ready

Well, I was going to put in the regular stuff here about using an online sandbox and setting up basic authentication. However, for Flow, this will not work; at least not at the moment that I write this recipe. Right now, the only way to connect Flow to Business Central is to use an online Business Central production environment; in other words, not a sandbox environment, and not a container-based or local installation.

In order to obtain a production environment, you can sign up for a trial at https://trials.dynamics.com.

Use your work email to sign up for the trial. There is no obligation to carry on once the trial expires, and it will allow you to complete this recipe.

By the time you are reading this, you may be able to connect Flow to an online sandbox environment, so if that is possible, then you can simply use the same one that you've been using for the previous recipes in this book.

The other thing that you will need for this recipe is to be signed up for Flow. You can sign up for free at https://flow.microsoft.com.

The scenario we will be tackling in this recipe is as follows:

  • As an end user, any time that a customer is blocked from sending shipments, I want the system to send me an email so that I can follow up with the customer to resolve the situation.
