Getting ready

To connect PowerApps to Business Central, you need to have one of the following environments set up:

  • A Business Central online production environment (for example, not a sandbox)
  • A Business Central on-premises environment

For the purposes of this recipe, however, I will assume you are using an online Business Central environment. If you worked through the previous Power Platform – using Flow recipe, then you can reuse that environment, otherwise, you can sign up for a trial at https://trials.dynamics.com.

Use your work email to sign up for the trial. There is no obligation to carry on once the trial expires, and it will allow you complete this recipe.

By the time you are reading this, you may be able to connect PowerApps to an online sandbox environment, so if that's possible, then you can use the same one that you've been using for the previous recipes in this book.

The other thing that you will need for this recipe is to be signed up for PowerApps. Again, if you've already worked through the previous Power Platform – using Flow recipe, then you can use the same account for this recipe, otherwise, you can sign up for free at https://powerapps.microsoft.com.
