Chapter 2. Basic Components

OpenLaszlo comes with a set of classes that represent simple and rich components that make LZX programming easier and more rapid. Because of the sheer number of these components, discussion has to be divided into several chapters. This chapter explains basic components that you use most often. Chapter 3, “Working with Text” focuses on working with text and fonts and Chapter 11, “Rich Components” discusses more complex components that are more powerful but not used that often.

The discussion in this chapter starts with the LzView class, a class that represents a visible rectangular area that can contain other components. Afterwards, the LzCanvas class is discussed. Then, the Basecomponent class is explained. The latter is the parent class of all OpenLaszlo components. Basic components covered in this chapter include Window, Button, RadioButton, ComboBox, and List.
