Exploring OpenLaszlo

The OpenLaszlo server comes with sample applications and documentation. It is a good idea to take a tour on what OpenLaszlo can do. Start now by clicking the menu on the left. Each menu is given below.

Demos

The Demos menu presents sample applications that shows off the features in OpenLaszlo. The Demos page is shown in Figure I.3.

Currently, Demos presents these full-featured applications.

Try them to see for yourself the power of OpenLaszlo and be ready to be amazed.

Laszlo in 10 Minutes

Laszlo in 10 Minutes, shown in Figure I.4, allows you to develop applications on the fly. This is explained in Chapter 1, “Starting OpenLaszlo.”

Small Applications

This section features small OpenLaszlo applications. The page is shown in Figure I.5.

The following are the featured small applications:

• Image Loading

• Music

Again, you should try these to familiarize yourself with what OpenLaszlo can do.

Components

OpenLaszlo provides built-in components that make programming more rapid. The Components menu, displayed in Figure I.6, shows some of these components.

Various components are available, from the simple Button to the more complex DatePicker. All these components and how to use them will be explained in the chapters to follow.

Documentation

OpenLaszlo is a mature project with plenty of documentation. Documentation is available for software developer and system administrator. In addition, there are also the LZX reference manual and components guide. Figure I.7 shows various types of documentation available in OpenLaszlo.

Server Admin

The last menu item within OpenLaszlo Explorer provides tools for administering the OpenLaszlo server. Figure I.8 shows these tools.
