Coming Down from the Mountain

Congratulations on finishing the path! There’s a whole lot more to learn, but you now have a taste for it. If you want to keep going, check out some of the Challenges You Can Chew at the end of each chapter. Take your solution – or a new one – through the path again. Or go on new adventures at adventuresxd.com, like these:

Scavenger Hunt

Continue the hunt for photos of good design and bad. Take pictures of things that delight you, such as color patterns you enjoy, or images that evoke an emotion like anger or joy. Post them to a personal blog and describe the meaning behind your choices. Challenge others to post theirs!

Take on Frustration

The next time something frustrates you–a process or product, for example–design something about it. Explore Solution Ideas and sketch concepts around them. See if you can create some kind of prototype and test your idea with others. If your solution works well, tell its story to those who may be able to build it.

A Modeled Citizen

Does a particular group of people intrigue you? For example, those in careers that you want to explore? Interview several people from that group and create profiles. What differences and similarities do they have? What characteristics seem to be part of a pattern (and why)?

Five Ways to Resume

Let’s say you’re about to interview for a job or a college. What will the interviewer want to know? How can you tell the story of your skills and experience? Can you present your resume or portfolio in a way that is easy to understand and compelling? Design the experience of interviewing YOU for five different audiences.
